Our next FMPUG-MN meeting we have the privilege to hear from FileMaker guru Todd Geist (via live remote session). He will be sharing valuable information regarding:

1. Selector Connector – This is a graph organization model that makes a lot of things really easy. We will take look at it’s basic concepts and ideas, and how it plays out in the real world.

2. BaseElement Plugin and Javascript – The Base Elements Plugin can now execute JavaScript. That means that you get the full power of a JavaScript Engine without the complexities of a web viewer. This is not for building UI’s in a web viewer but rather for processing data, and interacting with web APIs. Will look at some example of just how powerful this can be.

3. fmQBO – Connect FileMaker to QuickBooks Online for the Mac and Windows. This is a new product we are just about to release. It will let you do anything the QuickBooks Online REST API can do from FileMaker. Plus it includes fmQBODeveloper, a utility tool that can writes your integration code. We will take a look at how it works.

About the Speaker

Todd Geist is a computer geek and software consultant. He has spent the last 15 years building everything from simple websites to sophisticated accounting programs. His first career was in medical research, spending seven years at Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, working with great professors, and authoring dozens of scientific papers. Lab work evolved into computer work, and eventually he left academics for a career building software.

Although he has been getting into lots of different computer languages and platforms lately, FileMaker Pro has been his main focus for more than a decade. He has been a speaker at five FileMaker Developer Conferences, and at various FileMaker user groups around the country and in the United Kingdom.
